This 1,000 km journey started in February 2011 in the crowded streets of ‪Marrakesh‬, where we explored the bustling bazaars before heading out into the Atlas Mountains. We loved the winding roads, rocky peaks, and magnificent canyons before the mountains gave way to the Sahara desert.

Two pedelecs using a 500 Watt GoSwiss Drive hub motor allowed myself and e-bike dealer Sebastian Plog to cover up to 175 km per day. For power we towed our specially-built first-generation trailers outfitted with solar panels.

On this trip I did not only fall in love with the Moroccan countryside, the people and the food––but I discovered speed-pedelecs as the perfect way of traveling.
